Snow Day Extra

When I woke up this morning I could see an extra glow coming through the curtains. In the early morning hours a light snowfall gently covered the neighboring rooftops and yards. I jumped out of bed and felt a young childs joy for something unexpected.

I put on the coffee to brew and brought in the paper noting that it was thicker than usual. It has been an interesting year, difficult in many ways, but I’ve found much to keep my mind and spirit occupied.

I bought my first house, made a large amount of art, although still not as much as I wanted too, and I started working on this blog. It has been a challenge but one of the greatest times of my life.

Allowing myself the freedom to just go somewhere, whenever I felt the pull, has been a gift. I’ve learned that it’s ok to live in the moment, take a wrong turn, make a different choice.

Today I have a few things that I must do, a commitment of a donated painting that I need to make, a couple of bills I need to pay, emails to answer. There are things that I really want to check off of my “to do” list, but if I choose I know I can go out for a short walk in the woods.

NY Times Magazine 11/06/2020

One of my favorite weekly things to do is to read the NY Times on Sunday mornings. It is tells not only the worlds stories but filled with stories of interest and possibility. Sometimes it brings stories that touch my heart more than others and today it has a most interesting article about the communication of trees. If you haven’t yet read about this phenomenon, it will give you much hope. Trees live in harmony with each other by helping each other live and grow.

Each of us do the same for those around us. We cannot survive without other lives. On this new day, I remember all of those who have come before and touched my life and all those who are still here making each day worth getting up to see the snow outside my window. And I give thanks to the forests of trees that give and give.

Happy snow day!

Jenny
